Fred Forsey Biography
Born in trinity bay, Newfoundland, Fred moved to Toronto in 1944. Although he was always fascinated by art, Fred did not seriously purse this interest until he discovered the Buckhorn School of Fine Art while attending the 1985 Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival. He signed up for classes with Edwin Mathews who has become Fred’s foremost teacher and guiding influence. He has since also taken workshops with other art luminaries such as Gord Mackenzie, Andres Bohacker, Neil Broadfoot and Zoltan Szabo just to mention a few.
Watercolour is Fred’s medium and painting has become almost an obsession. When he’s not painting, he is constantly drawing and sketching and never ventures forth without the security of pencils and sketchpad.
Primarily a landscape artist, Fred tours the country endeavoring to capture and covey the beauty of the world. As he puts it “Many people say my paintings are peaceful. If that is the emotion my work engenders, than I am apply rewarded for this is the way I feel whenever I am close to nature.
