Conrad Mieschke Biography
Conrad Mieschke was born in Poland, raised in Germany, and apprenticed and worked as an art bookbinder and book restorer. He participated in two nationwide bookbinding competitions winning both silver and gold medals. He graduated from the Graphic Academy in Munich in 1963 with a Master bookbinder certificate.
In 1965, Mieschke immigrated to Canada and worked for 5 years with a publishing company in Toronto. He has been pursuing his ambition as a fulltime artist since 1970.
Mieschke’s work has been published as Christmas cards with Hallmark in the Painters of Canada Series, as well as UNICEF, which has published eight of his cards to date, and has several more reserved for future publication. All the publishing rights to UNICEF are donated.
“Painting is my means of communicating my most intimate impressions of nature, my emotional reaction to life, my deep feelings about my subjects and the world around me.”
The Gallery is honoured to display his work, and thanks him for choosing us.
