Bob Thackeray Biography

I have always enjoyed visual art and cannot remember a time when I wasn’t sketching or doodling on a scrap of paper. Still life painting done by the European masters has always held a certain attraction for me so still life painted in traditional oils tend to be my favourite subjects.

I am a member of the Oshawa, Pineridge and Durham West Art Associations and for several years I studied under professional artist Doug Purdon as well as attended workshops at the Academy of Realists Art in Toronto. In 2008 I enrolled as a student at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto to learn the classical painting techniques initially taught in the 19th century atelier’s in Florence Italy.

Oshawa has been my home since 1965 and I am in my mid 60’s and have been painting for 30 years, the last 10 on a full time basis. I also enjoy painting landscapes and city scenes.
