Barbara McGuey Biography
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Barbara resides and works out of her home studio in Sharon, Ontario. She is a self-employed Architectural Illustrator aiming for a fine art career. She has taken watercolour workshops with noted artists from Canada and the United States and has a Diploma in Interior Design from Humber College (three year course) and a Certificate in Airbrush from the Ontario College of Art.
With a lifetime interest in drawing and painting, Barbara continues to grow as an artist. From still life, landscapes and animal portraits, Barbara is never lacking subject matter. Working primarily in watercolour, she works from sketches or memory and uses photographs for detail reference.
Barbara McGuey is a Canadian realist painter living & working in her home studio in Hastings, Ontario. She is best known for her Landscape paintings of rural Ontario. After completing an Interior Design Course; Barbara worked as a self-employed Architectural Illustrator for 30 years. This helped her achieve many skills to make the jump from illustrator to Professional Fine Artist in 2010. Morning light or the early evening light are inspiration for her paintings. Light, colour and depiction of mood are the main focus in Her work. Memberships include: Elected Active member of The Federation of Canadian Artists 2021, elected member of The Canadian Society of Painters In Water Colour, 1995, ECOAA, (East Central Ontario Art Association) Spirit of the Hills, Trent Hills, Associate Member of FCA and Associate member of OPA.
