Jenny Kastner
artwork

Jenny Kastner spent her childhood summers immersed in the landscapes of the Kawarthas. It was here that she developed a sense of wonder for the natural environment that would later inspire her work.  Her motherís love of early childhood education and the Arts meant that Jenny spent hours at an easel from a very young age.  She graduated as top art student from her Secondary school and went on to complete degrees in World History and Cultural Studies at Trent University, and Arts Education at the University of Toronto.

In her early years of teaching, Jenny lived in a remote cottage, settling into the landscape of her childhood summers; it was here that she found her focus shifting to her own art practice once again.

During this time that she revisited the marvel of the Ontario wilderness and began her practice of translating it for others to experience.  An avid outdoors enthusiast, she finds inspiration daily; epic pine trees, granite outcrops, lakes, rivers, and limestone hideaways enchant her.

Vibrant in colour and graphic in nature, her paintings attempt to illuminate a particular magic found in place. She paints from her home North of Youngs Point, as well as her cabin on the edge of the Kawartha Highlands Park.
